Cedar Key Florida - Quintessential Get-A-Way
How can you get prettier than this? Cedar Key Florida is a paradise for photography art, for fishermen, for anyone wanting to get away from life's hustle and bustle.
The Honeymoon Cottage is the most photographed site on this Florida island. But bets are being taken that the next storm will take it out. I hope not.
(Did you know that a 'key' is just another word for a small island? It's a derivative of a Native American word, cayo.)
You reach this little island over a causeway and a couple of bridges across heavenly beauty at high tide, and ugly mud at low tide!

Sunshine or fog, Cedar Key has its own special allure. Dock Street today is the place to go for entertainment, cedar key clams, boutique shopping and a huge fishing pier.
Clam farming and tourism are the mainstays of the Cedar Key Florida economy. Sport fishing is a big recreational activity on the island.
For the best swimming, natives and tourists head by boat or kayak to Atsenie Otie or one of the 12 other keys offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
President Roosevelt did us all a good deed when he created the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge and included all the islands.
Cedar Key Florida is blessed with 13 islands that constitute a national park easily reached by boat.
The Cedar Key Bed and Breakfast is one of the oldest homes on the island and enjoys a peek of the Gulf from the quaint dining room

Southern evenings on the verandah - maybe visiting with other guests. Perhaps a 100 yard stroll (or less - I haven't measured!)to watch the spectacular sunsetthat regales guests almost every night. It doesn't get any more relaxing than this - unless its to dip into the bottomless cookie jar in the dining room.
